The conversion of an existing agricultural barn at Peter Hayes Farm in Somerset into a new residential dwelling. The barn sits to the rear of an existing farmhouse, within a mixed rural setting that also includes surrounding industrial and agricultural buildings.

Thistle Architecture was commissioned to develop the residential conversion and secure Class Q Prior Approval, establishing the change of use from agricultural to residential while working within the constraints of the existing building and site.

Following approval in 2024, our involvement continued through Stage 4 technical design and into the construction phase, coordinating the detailed information required to deliver the conversion on site.

The project is now complete, transforming the former agricultural building into a new home while retaining and adapting the character and fabric of the original barn.
