Three-Bed House To Seven-Bed En-Suite HMO

The conversion of a three-bedroom city centre family house in Portsmouth into a seven-bedroom high-end HMO, with every room en suite.

The challenge was fitting seven en-suite rooms into an ordinary family house, including the drainage for seven bathrooms, without losing the shared living space the residents need. The answer was at the rear, where the communal living space sits under a glazed lantern with bifold doors opening onto a walled courtyard, giving the tight urban plot usable shared amenity inside and out.

HMO Designers, part of Thistle Group, ran the project end to end, from surveys and proposals through planning approval and building regulations to management of the construction.

The project is complete and in use as seven high-end en-suite rooms.
