The conversion of a bay-fronted Victorian terrace in Southsea into an eight-bedroom luxury co-living house for professionals, working with the existing roof dormers.

The critical decision was where the kitchen went. Rather than isolating it, the scheme opens the communal floor into a single kitchen, dining and living space laid on herringbone flooring. Eight people sharing a corridor is a house share; eight people sharing a room this size is somewhere you'd choose to live.

HMO Designers, part of Thistle Group, designed the conversion and the interior scheme for the co-living accommodation.

The project is complete and was Highly Commended for Best Co-Living Space Design at the 2024 HMO Awards.
